Day 1: Marrakech to Zagora

  • Depart from Marrakech and drive through the Atlas Mountains.
  • Visit Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Continue to Zagora and ride camels to your desert camp.
  • Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars.

Day 2: Zagora to Merzouga

  • Depart Zagora and drive through the Draa Valley.
  • Visit Alnif and Rissani on the way to Merzouga.
  • Arrive in Merzouga and explore the area.
  • Experience a camel trek into the dunes and spend the night in a desert camp.

Day 3: Merzouga to Erfoud

  • Witness the sunrise over the dunes before returning to Merzouga.
  • Drive to Erfoud and visit the fossil factories.
  • Explore the surrounding desert landscapes.
  • Spend the night in Erfoud.

Day 4: Erfoud to Tinghir

  • Depart Erfoud and drive to Tinghir.
  • Visit the Todra Gorge and take a walk through the canyon.
  • Explore the surrounding Berber villages.
  • Overnight stay in Tinghir.

Day 5: Tinghir to Marrakech

  • Depart Tinghir and drive back to Marrakech.
  • Stop for lunch in Ouarzazate and visit the Kasbah Taourirt.
  • Continue the journey through the Atlas Mountains.
  • Arrive back in Marrakech in the evening.

During this desert safari, you can expect to see a variety of desert wildlife, including:

  1. Camels: These iconic desert animals are commonly seen throughout the Sahara.
  2. Gazelles: In Chegaga Desert, it’s famous for it’s gazelles.
  3. Desert Foxes: These nocturnal creatures are occasionally spotted in the desert.
  4. Desert Hedgehogs: These small mammals are often found in desert habitats.
  5. Desert Monitor Lizards: These reptiles can sometimes be seen basking in the sun.
  6. Desert Birds: Various bird species, such as falcons and eagles, can be spotted soaring above the desert landscape.

While larger mammals are rare in the Sahara, you may also encounter nomadic herders with their goats, sheep, and occasionally, dromedaries (a type of camel). Additionally, the desert landscape itself is teeming with unique flora and fauna adapted to the harsh desert environment.
